Recently I was interviewed by the Dutch magazine Vriendin about the connection between stress and the body. My personal story revealed something powerful about emotional healing weight loss. Real change only started when I began doing deeper inner work and releasing stored emotional stress in my body.
Many people believe weight loss is only about food and exercise. While these factors matter, the body also responds to something deeper: emotional stress, trauma, and unresolved experiences.

There was a period in my life where I followed every health recommendation. I exercised regularly, worked with a personal trainer, and paid close attention to my nutrition.
Despite all this effort, my body barely changed.
Later I discovered that my cortisol levels were chronically elevated. Cortisol is the body’s main stress hormone. When stress remains present for a long time, the body can enter survival mode.
In survival mode the body may:
- hold on to fat
- slow down metabolism
- increase abdominal fat storage
- struggle to fully relax
Understanding this connection between emotional healing weight loss helped me realize that my body was not working against me. It was responding to long-term stress.

As I continued my healing journey, I began exploring emotional and energetic healing. Slowly I became aware of how many unprocessed emotions my body was holding.

During my own healing journey I explored deeper therapeutic work such as trauma therapy, family constellation therapy, and regression work.
After every session I noticed something remarkable.
I felt lighter.
Not only emotionally, but physically as well.
Over the course of about a year and a half, I lost 22 kilos. I did not suddenly follow a stricter diet or exercise more intensely. The biggest difference was that I started releasing emotional patterns and stress stored in my body.
My experience showed me how closely emotional healing weight loss can be connected.
Sometimes the body simply needs permission to let go.
